Desire, Responsibility, Commitment.

Next Training session on:

Monday 2 November
Attire: Red/Blue
Time: 7pm (As usual, be there earlier if u can)

Monday will see the return of Uncle Sam. For those who do not know, he is a sports trainer who does take us for some conditioning work.

As with the title of this post, i think these qualities needs to improved. I am sure all of us can see who are the regular people that always turn up for training and on time. I am sure all of us are busy, but at the end of the day, its up to your personal commitment to arrange your schedule around training sessions if u deem it important enough as part of your life in university.

It was just this morning when coach made a comment at about 830. He said," At least now can have 3v3". I do think it is really sad and embarrassing. Put yourself in his shoes, he commits his Saturday morning to come down and train us instead of spending time with his family. How disappointing do you think it is for him to see such a turnout. Soccer in NUS may not even be your first priority. I am not asking for 100% attendance. I completely understand if you cant make it from time to time, but i do hope that everyone does make an effort to come. In the event that you really cant come, the least u could do is post on the blog. This should be the primary means of informing the captains and the rest of the team. If you cant make it at the last minute for unforeseen circumstances, then only message one of the captains. To be unable to come and not even taking 2 minutes to post on the blog, i think that is being very irresponsible.

I expect to see attendance and commitment improve, and the very least i expect of senior players is to lead by example. I understand that the date of the third training of the week is not certain, but for now, it will always be Saturday morning.

On an admin note: Please leave the comments section for genuine comments about attendance or comments about the post. Not some wise crack, leave that for the tag board.
For the tag board, i don't know and don't care who wrote those tags that underestimated the opponents. I do hope that you all can be more responsible with the use of the tag board. No doubt it is for fun and jokes most of the time, but please think before u post.

good post o' captain.

i'm not able to come this next week. its not due to a dearth in desire. because football = awesomeness. but due to the sheer magnitude of the failure of myself to properly manage time.

i've a final test and two deadlines this coming week and admittedly, if one were to practice consistent work, last minute mugging would not happen. but that is a utopian ideal when it comes to me.

perhaps if a certain hall were to accept my application for next sem *hint hint*, it would do wonders to my schedule. no more saturday morning tuitions next sem. hurrah.

alas, i ramble. well i guess what i want to say is, tis not for the lack of want for football, but tis the need to complete assignments.

love,
sham

Hi Guys

Attendance in training is as much a reflection of commitment as your sense of responsibility off the field.

This team is quite spoilt when it comes to training. Equipment is provided, paid for and even when things get lost they are replaced at no cost to the players. Matches are abundant, and sometimes even transport is provided at no fee. A well qualified coach is hired for us and who commits professionally to our cause. Captains and Team managers do the administrative tasks, coordinating week in and week out.

And yet so little is asked of the individual! You merely show up, play your football, and go home. If you can't make it, we ask that you post it online.

Isn't it then so ridiculous that so many of you can't even do that much?

Many of you don't realize how hard other ECAs get it. They don't have half the resources we do. They don't get the field every time they need it. They don't have enough money for coaches or equipment. They don't get as strong SRC support.

To those not interested in playing by the rules we set for the team - please shape up or ship out. This goes for seniors and freshmen alike. It's the least you can do as a player of this team.
