Training Until Exams

IMPORTANT

Thurs 15 Oct Training cancelled due to poor attendance.

Next training next Monday.

------------------------

Hi Guys

Training attendance has been poor of late, and Coach is concerned that without at least 70-80% of attendance per training, the team is not progressing at a sufficient level to push toward our IVP goals.

As much as we are a team of university students and our studies are our individual priorities at the end of the day, we hope that as part of the team, each person still puts in his personal best to make it for as many training sessions as they can.

This depends, of course, on each individual's varied commitments and schedules. Some of our players teach tuition to supplement their pocket money, some have family responsibilities at home, while others may have additional social engagements which cannot be put aside easily.

In this team, we do not judge each other's personal choices in how we live our lives. This is why we do not berate those who are unable to train as regularly as others.

Another quality of our team is our transparency and open communication. We are, or rather we should be, consistent in informing each other when we are unable to attend training. We also respect and listen to feedback from one another when it is honestly and sincerely shared.

I would thus like to open this post for discussion about training until the exams. Should we:

(1) Train 3 times a week as per normal, because the recent drop in attendance has been due to only recent mid-terms/ term papers, and will not continue past this week; or

(2) Train 2 times a week, but promise near full attendance save for urgent situations; or

(3) Any other suggestions.

I cannot promise anything, but I seek your constructive and honest feedback in order to best serve our team's needs.

Daowei, Fabian and I are as concerned about the welfare of the team as much as the welfare of each player, and given the current situation, we think it best to step in rather than sit idly by.

train 3 days a week!!! who come, will get results in the future... good for them... who don't, if not selected at the end of the day, than they have themself to blame...

stick to option 1 chris. do what we've been doing last year.

it's all up to the individual to make this team work. i dont think reducing to 2 will mean greater attendence.

guys, let's tune it up please, starting next monday.we have a title to defend.

Kiu: Option 1 guys. I agree with Nigel the attendance wont increase just because its decreased to two days. Conversely, it might cause those who cant make it on one of the three days end up with 1 training rather than 2 trainings.
I always try to come or at least account for my absence. I think thats the bare minimum everyone can do to make this team a better one.

See you guys next wk!
