Under the sweltering heat on a bright Saturday afternoon, our 3 NUS players, Vincent, Muhadher and Cheng wei, together with players from various secondary schools, were kindly invited by NIKE to attend a "Master Accuracy" training session at Tampines SAFRA. Headed by former Lions captain Nazri Nasir, the event promised to be a great learning experience for everyone there.
Laced up in the aggressive green and red hot boots T90 Laser III featuring a newly configured "Shot Shield" strike zone, the trio were all ready to strut their stuff. The boots were specifically designed based on intensive research on the biomechanics of striking a ball. Liverpool hot shot Fernando Torres, who currently dons the T90 Laser III, commented, " It definitely provides another dimension to my game and a greater feel for accuracy, power and swerve"
The highlight of the day had to be the "Torres Challenge". Players were put through a complex dribbling-cum-shooting drill, epitomized by Torres. Our dudes all did well, each clocking below 16s!
First-timer Muhadher reflected on his experience, " It was a thoroughly fun event for the young and budding footballers to experience quality coaching and engage in a healthy lifestyle. The Torres Challenge was difficult as it combined speed, agility and accuracy all in one. I'm glad to have completed it with a good timing".
The sun-burnt trio went home with valuable experiences and hopefully pass them on to their fellow friends.
