NYP went ahead with a near post strike midway through the second half. NUS equalised about 15 minutes later through a set piece, with Raihan taking the honours.
Late in the game, and on their home soil, multiple NYP players began to suffer from cramps. This ran down the game clock by a significant amount, yet a dubiously short 3 minutes of stoppage time was played by the referee.
Tis a shame, but NUS nonetheless returns to home soil with the slight advantage of an away goal in hand.
A credit to the substitutes
Taking nothing away from the starting lineup, the NUS second half substitutes played very will in effecting positive change as the game moved into its later stages.
Andy, Raihan, Chengwei and Anand deserve special mention for being patient in waiting for their chance, and making full use of it when it came along. I hope this acts as a positive example for the rest waiting on the wings to always be "in the game" even though you may still be physically on the bench.
