Hi all,
Shamelessly copied from Mr Chiang's post.
World University Games - 12-23 Aug 2011 @ Shenzhen, China
Dear all
Would like to sound off to all footballers in the 4 Unis that the Singapore University Sports Council has supported our request to send a football team to the World University Games this coming August in Shenzhen - provided our application to compete in the Games is accepted by the Organiser. We should know our application outcome by mid or late Feb (Hopefully!).
Eligibility to WUG - must be Singaporean doing undergrads programme, age between 18-27, those graduated in 2010 & graduating in 2011 are still eligible.....
The basic cost of participation is estimated to be between $1400-1600, and good chance students would be asked to be responsible for around $400.
I will be discussing with Coach Arasu and the TMs of all Unis on our selection & preparation plan, hopefully by the end of Jan we could announce the plan. Players keen on the project must understand that we will be training trough June and July vacation, and as matches at WUG will be played at 10am/2pm/4pm, we will definitely need to simulate that in July.
The Combined Uni Team (Jollilads) playing in the NFL this year will have even greater significance, as it will be used as one of the major preparation platforms to the WUG. We would want to encourage all students who are keen to be part of the WUG endeavour to make yourself available to play with Jollilads in NFL 2011. If you have already committed to a club for the upcoming S-league/Prime League/NFLs season, please call me at 91004824 to discuss your situation.
We will probably start bringing players together after the Nathan Cup group stage (for both WUG and Jollilads) , with the 1st selection session scheduled to be either on 12/2 or 19/2, 3.30pm at NTU. Will confirm again ...
Meanwhile, would like all players who are keen on the project to register your interest with your Uni Rep (by 7/2, after CNY ...) who are helping me to collate ... (NUS - Daowei, NTU - Feroz, SIM - Darren, SMU - Weijian, THANKS GUYS!!).
Please note our application to participate in WUG has not been approved by the Organiser yet, we just want to sound off to all interested students to make sure you could make yourself available to have the best chance to make the team, and the team could have a good preparation to the competition if we are accepted ... For most of us, this could probably be the "once in a lifetime" opportunity to play competitive football against teams from Europe, South America, Africa, and other Asian powerhouses ... Value it ...!

Cheers!
